The BMWi (Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy) is a supreme federal authority with its headquarters in Berlin. The second office is in Bonn. Founded in 1949, the BMWi is responsible for shaping the conditions for economic activity – always based on stability, personal and entrepreneurial freedom and competition. It also aims to support employees and promote employment. Several federal offices are subordinate to the authority – for example, the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control, the Federal Cartel Office and the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing.
