EORI stands for Economic Operators Registration and Identification. It is a unique number provided by the customs authority for businesses and people trading together within the European territory. Basically, EORI is used as an identification number in matters concerning any exchange of information between the traders and the customs administrators.
Companies and persons wishing to trade must use the EORI number as an identification number in all customs procedures when exchanging information with the customs authorities. Each economic operator receives only one EORI number at a time, since this is used as a Europe-wide identification feature. Without the EORI number, customs actions within the EU are no longer possible.
